PalermoPalermo, the largest Sicilian city, is an ancient town full of history, architecture, culture and amazing landscapes: founded by the Phoenicians between the 7th and the 6th centuries B.C. the city has grown over the centuries around its natural port: "La Cala". Here Sea-Folk has its main base and from here, even on foot, it is possible to make a tour of the old city center, one of the largest and most interesting in Europe. Not to be missed are monuments such as the Cathedral, the Norman Palace, the Piazza Pretoria and the Massimo Theater. For nature lovers, a visit Mount Pellegrino and the Favorita Park is a must. Palermo is also known for its wonderful beaches, cliffs and small maritime villages including Mondello, with its long white beach, Sferracavallo and Isola delle Femmine, which is a nature reserve and San Nicola, with its castle, all all beautiful stops where mooring in comfortable and it is possible to get in contact with the everyday life of Sicilian sea life and have a taste of the typical food and wine in the many restaurants with a view on the sea. On the east side is Mongerbino, with its Faraglioni (big shelves coming out of the sea) and Sant'Elia this too are good places to spend a night at the anchor. Numerous are also the Marinas in Palermo like La Cala, the quaint harbour of L'Arenella and Marina di Villa Igiea.
